Irina Olegovna graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University (Department of Soil Geography and Landscape Geochemistry) in 1977.
In 1995 she defended her PhD thesis on the topic «Ecological assessment of soil sustainability and regularity of formation of their absorptive capacity». In 2016 Irina defended her doctoral thesis on the topic «Evaluation of the role of soil-forming potential of natural factors in the formation of soil cover on the basis of geoinformation technologies».
Author of more than 140 scientific publications, including 12 monographs, 3 author’s certificates
Responsible editor of the National Soil Atlas of the Russian Federation (Chapters Red. S.A. Shoba, 2011).
Project Manager «Creation of a national geographical soil information database on a scale of 1:2500000» (RFFI, 2009-2011); «Development of expert systems based on large-scale soil-geographical databases»(Russia-ASEAN,2017-2019).
Scientific interests: soil geography, soil-forming potential of natural factors, computer mapping, geo-information analysis in soil science and ecology, land resources, soil and geographical databases.
