Economic foundations of food security

Economic pillars of food security

The activities of the Centre for Research on the Economic Foundations of Food Security are aimed at studying the world food situation and its impact on Russia and the countries of the Eurasian region. The research aims to:.

Monitor and analyze food policy in the Eurasian region;

Assessing the impact of climate change on food security and agricultural production;.

 Assessment of the impact of land degradation on yields of major crops;. Analysis of the problems and prospects of the main agricultural and food markets;

Development of methodological approaches to assessing food security, taking into account world and national best practices;.

Development of proposals for building Russian networks with the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus for joint production and implementation of projects in the agro-industrial sphere;

Assessment of the competitiveness of agricultural exports of the Eurasian region on the Chinese market.

Applied work is focused on the formation of databases of agricultural and food products, indicators of food security, as well as the construction of models of general and partial equilibrium in order to obtain quantitative estimates of the impact of various agricultural policy measures on the financial and economic situation of agricultural producers, indicators of production and distribution of agricultural goods. Practical activity in this area is to provide information, analytical and expert support to executive authorities, organizations and institutions of the states of the Eurasian region on issues of food security and sustainable development of agriculture, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the countries of the region.
