The IV International Scientific and Practical Conference on Food Security and Soil Science dedicated to World Soil Day will be held at Russian Research Institute of Floriculture and Subtropical Crops in Sochi, Russian Federation on December 5-6, 2019.
The Eurasian Center for Food Security (ECFS) together with The World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and other partners organize the International Conference on Food Security and Soil Science which aligns with the World Soil Day and serves as a science-policy interface for stakeholders involved in food security and soil science in the Eurasian region and beyond
The conference is aimed at connecting research and education in soil and environmental science to practical application in agriculture to ensure food security in the region. This year the conference’s focus will be on climate-smart soil management practices in Eurasia as a measure to mitigate climate change, on available agricultural information for better decision making for sustainable land management and on subtropical and tropical agriculture.
Previously the event were held in the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in 2016, in the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2017 and in the St.Petersburg Dokuchaev Soil Science Museum in 2018. This year conference will take place in the Russian Research Institute of Floriculture and Subtropical Crops in Sochi, Russia on December 5-6. The event will include a plenary session featuring dedicated keynote speeches on the first day, followed by roundtable discussions on issues pertinent to food security on the second day.
